Why We Invested In Padel Social Club

Padel Social Club began in 2021 and operates 2 premium padel venues in London, designed not only for high-quality padel experiences but also as sustainably designed social spaces. Its unique concept of padel venues as a simultaneous hub for socialising and community events has attracted top names such as Andy Murray, Stormzy, Tom Holland, Jay Shetty and Simu Liu.

Major Market Opportunity for UK Padel

Despite witnessing a 23% YoY increase of padel courts between 2017 and 2024 and a substantial ~ 1,000 courts (as of July 2025), the UK lags other Western European geographies in padel court supply. France, for instance, has seen a rapid supply boom with the opening of approximately 1,000 new courts in 2024 alone. This, however, does not signal a lack of demand, but simply a substantial lag in the supply of padel courts.

Indeed, the UK stands out in Western Europe in its padel court shortage. The gross monetary value of the average padel court each month sits at €9,700 as of 2024, having risen 73% since 2023 (€5,600), more than double the next highest (Germany, 2024: €4,000; Benelux, 2024: €4,200). This signifies rapid demand for padel courts and high occupancy rates of existing ones. High gross monetary value is realised in the fact that UK’s padel court prices average at €56.59 an hour, underlying how bureaucratic friction and stringent planning regulations under the UK’s National Planning Policy Framework has hindered supply from catching up with demand. In fact, the UK has the highest proportion of court bookings attributed to open match in the world, and the world’s fifth highest number of matches played.

Interestingly, UK has the highest proportion of open match bookings (17%) among Western Europe’s biggest and upcoming padel markets. In comparison, open matches only account for 1-11% of world leaders in padel, Spain, and rapidly growing markets such as France and Germany’s padel court bookings. Thus, the UK has a sizeable community of padel players interested in engaging with other new players. This reinforces Padel Social Club’s stance on developing their venues not only as excellent sports venues, but also as spaces for developing new connections.

A Social Padel Brand

As a sport, padel is relatively accessible to beginners, with clear rules and minimal technical mastery necessary for a simple game. Unlike tennis and basketball, given the nature of movement and technique, padel is also less likely to result in injuries, thus, drawing in many young adults, into the sport as a recreational activity. It is because of padel’s appeal as an outdoor leisure activity that it is also a major avenue for socialising, in which Padel Social Club masterfully adapts into its core branding.

Padel Social Club hosts corporate events for team building, influencer events with DJ sets and F&B, amongst others, some involving more than a hundred participants. The Wellness Hub additionally offers post-game relaxation and socialising opportunities, with saunas, cold plunge pools and showers.
