Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions are among the leading causes of disability worldwide, affecting over 1.7 billion people. These conditions, ranging from chronic back pain to arthritis, significantly impact quality of life, particularly among older adults. In the UK alone, waiting lists for MSK treatments have surged by 27% since January 2024, underscoring the urgent need for scalable, accessible solutions.
Despite the scale of the problem, traditional rehabilitation remains outdated, often inaccessible, and poorly tailored. We believe the convergence of digital health, AI, and community-led care can break this cycle. Good Boost is pioneering this transformation.
Good Boost is an award-winning social enterprise delivering AI-powered aquatic and land-based rehabilitation programs for individuals with arthritis, joint pain, many MSK conditions and broader long-term health conditions. Delivered in community leisure centres, the platform bridges the gap between clinical-grade interventions and everyday accessibility.
Delivered within community leisure centres, the solution bridges the gap between clinical-grade interventions and accessible, everyday environments. Sessions are guided by tablet-based software and supported by trained community staff, making therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation fun, inclusive, and empowering. Good Boost collects information about a patient’s condition, symptoms and function. Good Boost’s AI prescribes a personalised rehab exercise programme based on these answers. The app shows animated exercises and instructions. Patients give consistent feedback and outcome measures so that Good Boost’s AI can adapt exercises.
a. Market Opportunity
Digital health for MSK rehabilitation market is projected to reach $11.5 billion by 2030. Yet access remains fragmented, particularly for older adults, those with mobility impairments, and underserved populations. Good Boost stands out by embedding its technology into the existing community infrastructure of leisure centres.
b. Product-Market Fit
Good Boost is currently active in 251 leisure centres in the UK and is expanding rapidly. These sites report high user retention, strong satisfaction scores, and consistent engagement. The hybrid model, combining technology, community, and human support, is proving effective and sustainable.
c. Clinical & Regulatory Strength
The platform is MHRA registered and UKCA-marked, underscoring its clinical legitimacy. These certifications are rare among early-stage digital health ventures and give Good Boost a strong foundation to engage with the NHS and international markets. Clinical effectiveness is proven, as studies have shown that 67.8% of participants experienced a clinically significant improvement (more than 15% in pain or function) after 12 weeks, which is superior to traditional face-to-face physiotherapy.
d. Team & Vision
Led by Osteopath, MSK researcher and social entrepreneur Ben Wilkins, the team brings a rare combination of clinical credibility, lived experience, and startup agility. As Ben Wilkins puts it, “Our mission at Good Boost is to make rehabilitation accessible, enjoyable, and effective for everyone, no matter their age or mobility. We believe community spaces like leisure centres can be powerful hubs for health, not just fitness.” Good Boost’s vision of accessible, community-powered rehab aligns closely with our values at Accelerate Ventures.
Good Boost is now entering a strategic growth phase. With our investment, the team is hiring for key roles to support new products, feature development and entry into new markets.
Good Boost is more than a tech company, it is a movement toward equity in rehabilitation care. By combining rigorous clinical standards with community delivery, they make health and mobility a right, not a privilege. The company’s innovative approach is already delivering impact at scale across the UK. As Nick Ford, Investment Director at Accelerate Ventures, notes, “Good Boost represents the future of preventative healthcare. They’re not just building smart MSK tools, they’re embedding equitable access into the fabric of communities. We believe there is a genuine need for this in the world, and can’t wait to help Good Boost to grow and help more communities.“
At Accelerate Ventures, we look for founders who build for the future. In Ben and the Good Boost team, we found that rare combination of vision, execution, and purpose. We’re proud to be part of their journey.
